Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday because I’ve chosen to celebrate love in its seemingly endless shapes and forms since I was a teenager.

I saw beyond the romantic implications and chose to elevate the holiday long before Galentine’s Day became a thing.

My mom has been single most of my life. I loved surprising her with thoughtful gifts on Valentine’s Day. As I grew older, I started giving friends and even their family members tokens of my affection because I enjoyed it immensely!

I have since calmed down on gift-giving and send loving texts or letters instead. However, this year, I’ve decided to send those closest to me a story, one of the following love stories.

Each one of these love stories has been submitted to The Narrative Arc for their LOVE IS LOVE competition:

And we’re celebrating all kinds — romantic, coming out love stories, after divorce, teenage love stories, polyamorous stories, platonic, love between friends, love between family members. Your story needs to include the word “love” at least once.
