10 Things I Don’t Want You To Know About Me
What I think while trying to come up with a list of “10 Things You Don’t Know About Me”
--
It has been almost a week since Misty Rae tagged me in her story that featured the popular “10 Things You Don’t Know About Me” list.
I have since read a few other lists by some of my favorite writers (they will be linked at the bottom of this story) and found that I really enjoy reading them.
However, I feel a wave of anxiety (and I’m not an anxious person) whenever I think about sharing 10 things that you don’t know about me.
I’ve already shared a lot on Medium.
Sometimes I question whether I have shared too much.
The following excerpt from Natasha Nichole Lake’s list actually sheds some light as to why I feel this way.
Memoirs require a writer to all but bleed on the page. I don’t want to offer up my soul in that way. As I said, I love secrets. Memoirs leave no room for stories untold. They make history when they’re juicy, scandalous, revolutionary, terrifying. I don’t want to fall open like that- I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to glue myself back together.
I wrote and self-published a memoir when I was 30 years old. I do not promote it anywhere. I’m proud of myself for doing it, but I would not share as much about my life now as I did then.
Privacy has become one of the things I treasure as I have gotten older.
I guess I’ll start with this tidbit that many people don’t know.
1 — I wrote and self-published a book when I was 30 years old.
The second thing occurred to me while deciding on which photo to use under my subtitle.
